We are looking to hire
Technical Manager
for a permanent, full-time position at our Oulu location. The employment relationship will start at the beginning of December 2025. It is based on flexible working hours, and it comply Collective Agreement for the Senior Salaries Employees in Chemical Industry.
The Technical Manager leads and manages teams that focus on new processes and product development and applications in Oulu plant, with oversight assigned and associated within functional organizations of Kraton.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:
- Leads and manages the local technical team consisting of process development, process safety, automation and IT
- Work closely with the Plant Manager and as a member of Lead Team to provide operational technical input and guidance on plant operations
- Additionally, manage projects and cross-functional teams and monitor progress on requirements such as schedule, cost, and quality
- Participate and represent the plant on global strategic teams, provide technical information on business growth initiatives, and support new product development projects across the enterprise
- Develop and manage the technology strategy and roadmap at site
- Work with other managers to support initiatives to resolve issues, understand timeline impacts and monitor progress, including budget
- Support plant activities such as unit shutdowns and other manufacturing operations
- Manage the plant's energy usage and utilities improvement efforts with reporting requirements
- Manage global initiative program at Oulu plant
- Monitor technological trends and assess competitive technologies and products
- Engage actively in external customer, partner, and university interactions as needed
- Maintain and update plant investment 5-year plan
- Main contact for external safety authorities and insurance company
- Main contact for local industrial park companies
- 5+ experience supervising technical staff
- Fluent Finnish and English language skills
- Experience in chemical processes and knowledge of specialty chemicals industry
- Previous capital projects experience in a chemical manufacturing setting
- Demonstrated managerial or supervisory experience
- Initiates own personal development, both technical and personal skills
- Must be able to communicate and interact effectively with multi-functional, multi-national and diverse backgrounds, both internally and externally with appreciation of thought and cultural diversity
- Strong people management, project management and change management skills to manage timelines and delegating to team members appropriately with clarity
- Must be able to discuss in detail the scientific basis of an experimental approach to internal/external customers
- Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior management
- Understanding of Operational Excellence -concept
- Understanding of engineering standards and best practices that apply to manufacturing operations
- Lead and assist with performing root cause analyses and incident investigations
- Able to effectively organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines
- Advanced computer skills in calculations and data interpretation with artificial intelligence
- SAP usage and understanding of process control systems
- Master's degree in process technology or similar level of professional education required
