The HSE&S Manager leads and drives site performance towards Health, Safety and Environmental (HSES) Excellence, as outlined in the Kraton Core Values and HSES Strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Continuous reduction of HSE risk for site operations.
  • HSE Excellence performance aligned with ISO 14001 & Responsible Care management systems.
  • Implementation and compliance with global HSES policies; with special emphasis on the Life Critical Policies (LCPs). 
  • Provide advice, interpretation and training necessary to deliver.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations such as the Swedish Environmental Work Authority, Environmental Protection Agency and HSES Directives.
  • Implement, monitor, and continuously improve effective HSES Management System. 
  • Drive for improvement in its core processes.
  • Risk Assessment Process - includes hazard identification, prioritization of risks, prioritization of capital needs and tailored programs tackling specific hazard areas.
  • LCP Audit Process - to ensure compliance and identify hazards.
  • Incident Investigation / Root Cause Analysis Process - to ensure the right quality of data analysis, investigation, and propagation of lessons learnt and the implementation of identified action plans.
  • Corrective Action Plan Monitoring — including quality control of actions implemented.
  • Do the regular gap analysis for regulatory changes — evaluate how these will apply to site by interfacing with regulatory agencies and corporate staff. 
  • Develop action plans to comply in the most effective manner.
  • Effective implementation of the Security and Fire Protection Programs.
  • And other duties as assigned to safely perform.
Required Skills
  • 7+ years of experience is required for this role.
  • Sr. leadership experience with ability to clearly elucidate objectives and progress to the top leadership of the company.
  • Multifunctional work experience desired (RTS, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Sales, Commercial) providing strong abilities to lead multinational, and multifunctional teams.
  • Excellent interaction and negotiation skills required as the job will interface w/ leadership levels from the top levels of the company through technical and operating staff.
  • This level of competency is generally achieved with 20 or more years of experience and multiple technical and managerial assignments.
  • Extensive experience in the field of Polymer Technology.
  • Project Management.
  • Thorough knowledge of Excel for model development.
Education, Certifications & Licenses
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or BS Chemistry, w/ preference for advanced degree MS, or PhD.
