Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Principal Subcontracts Administrator to join our Supply Chain organization. In this role, you will be responsible for the full life cycle of subcontract management, including sourcing, negotiation, execution, administration, and close-out of complex subcontracts in support of critical defense and aerospace programs. You will work closely with program management, engineering, contracts, legal, finance, and external suppliers to ensure performance, compliance, and alignment with program and company objectives.
Job Responsibilities- Manage high-value and/or high-risk subcontracts from pre-award through close-out for hardware and services in support of various contract types
- Prepare and issue RFPs, evaluate supplier proposals, perform cost and price analysis, and lead negotiation efforts.
- Develop and implement subcontract strategies that meet cost, schedule, and technical requirements.
- Serve as primary liaison with subcontractors on all contractual matters; facilitate issue resolution and risk mitigation.
- Maintain strong internal relationships with cross-functional teams to support program objectives.
- Lead the source selection process for recommended subcontractors
- Support proposal efforts including cost estimates, procurement strategies, and supplier engagement.
- Prepare contractual documents, and ensure subcontract compliance with government regulations (FAR, DFARS), company policies, and prime contract requirements.
- Participate in supplier performance reviews, audits, and corrective action planning.
- Monitor and manage subcontractor deliverables, funding, schedules, and modifications.
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend DRS' mission, values and culture
- Contribute to continuous improvement of subcontract management processes and tools.
- Mentor team of subcontract administrators
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in subcontract or contract management, preferably in the defense/aerospace industry.
- Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS and government acquisition processes.
- Knowledge of the terms and conditions appropriate for different contract types (FFP, CPFF, CPIF, T&M, IDIQ, etc.) and their proper use
- Knowledge of government subcontract administration duties including subcontract flow downs, change management, inspection, acceptance, payment, warranty, close-out and records retention
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate and manage complex subcontract agreements.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Proven leadership in managing supplier relationships and subcontract risk.
