The Employment Lawyer identifies and researches legal issues, analyzes and assesses risks, drafts and reviews key documents and presents clear recommendations and hands-on counsel to all levels of executive and management staff. Works independently. Provides the corporation and its subsidiaries with legal advice, risk analysis, service, and representation in various environments, i.e., courts, administrative hearings, and various internal and external meetings and negotiations. Will be responsible for providing in-house employment legal advice. The position is a hybrid position.
Responsibilities
- Identifies and analyzes employment legal issues, analyzes and assesses risk, and presents clear recommendations and hands-on counsel to all levels of executive staff and management.
- Negotiates on behalf of the corporation in both litigation and non-litigation settings (e.g. with various regulatory agencies, customers, vendors, transaction partners, etc.).
- Develops standard documents and procedures to protect the corporation and minimize risks, and further corporate interests. Develops compliance guidelines for relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- J.D. degree from accredited law school
- At least 8-12 years legal experience
- Law firm experience required
- Employee law experience required, corporate law experience preferred
- Health care and/or insurance law experience a plus
Professional Certification:
- Admitted to practice law in Ohio.
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
- Proven ability to research and apply legal principles.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems and evaluate and provide risk minimizing solutions.
