Business Development Representative

Our Business Development Representative (BDR) role is an exciting opportunity to help drive

additional demand for Panera's Catering Sales division. This position is based in Needham, MA with the potential to work from home. BDRs are responsible for driving net new client and account acquisition through inbound and outbound channels, both via phone and digital, with the goal to grow new catering revenue and clients within a geographic territory, target account or type of business.

Duties & Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to:

Business Development

  • Achieve required KPIs: Number of dials and conversations per day, number of emails per day, number of new clients acquired and dollar value of new clients acquired
  • High volume of outbound calling to leads and prospects with timely handling of  inbound inquiries from the website and phone
  • Prospecting and use of account-based selling techniques and strategies to grow sales within given target accounts
  • Execute outbound calling programs in collaboration with marketing and sales
  • Generate qualified customer leads, nurture efforts and close as new clients
  • Transition closed accounts Catering Sales Managers after 90 days
  • Develop mastery of Panera Catering offerings and how we operate as a selling organization, as a quota-carrying sales rep
  • Encouraged to use outside selling resources (Chamber publications, Google, LinkedIn, etc.) to build sales
  • Achieve assigned period, quarterly and annual target revenue goals through selling activities (calls per day, conversions)
  • Create proposals and assist with online and offline ordering to support purchase. 

Regional Collaboration

  • Work in a team environment and function as an extension of regional Area Catering Sales Manager team, with a focus on driving new client acquisition
  • Team with Catering Sales Managers to accelerate research, scoping and outreach to Target Accounts
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule of hours to support local assigned markets

Use of Systems and Technology

  • Leverage internet to research prospective clients and industries in order to grow lead database and new customer base
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrate excellence in time management through use of Outlook Calendar and Salesforce.com, and other online resources to maximize organization, strategic planning and follow up
  • Prioritize a call list of high-potential prospects by analyzing reports within Salesforce.com in addition to other provided resources
  • Gather and track information about leads and clients accurately in our CRM
  • Actively promote online ordering and loyalty program sign-ups

Qualifications (Education & Experience)

Qualifications include:

  • Associate's degree or higher preferred plus 1-2 years of sales experience, or equivalent sales experience in lieu of degree
  • High-energy individual with a passion for sales
  • Ability to engage with prospects and generate qualified leads
  • Ability to close accounts through strategic insights and alignment of customer needs to solution
  • Experience with CRM (Salesforce.com) and other prospecting tools (LinkedIn, etc.) a plus
  • Experience with following a cadence and tracking status of tasks in a cadence application
  • Experience with email tools and overall inbox management
  • Sense of urgency, attention to detail with strong organizational and follow-up skills
  • Requires ability to effectively prioritize and multitask
  • Strong relationship building skills, especially via remote channels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated confidence on the phone when speaking to prospective clients
  • Basic understanding of business principles
  • Strong problem identification and objection resolution ability
  • Ability to generate sales by phone for defined new customer segments as needed
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, early-stage environment that requires willingness to learn and apply new concepts and strategies quickly
  • Self-motivated, driven, and competitive
  • Operates with the highest level of integrity and professionalism

Working Conditions

  • Attend and participate in team meetings
  • Perform other job functions as directed by Leadership
  • Available for travel up to 10% of the time
