We are searching for the best as we build and strengthen our Retail Delivery leadership team. Retail Delivery is a fast-growing business unit within Panera Bread that is looking for a highly motivated and experienced team leader with strong analytical and communication skills to oversee the delivery channel. Panera has entered strategic partnerships with many of the top delivery companies and allows customer to access Panera delivery through marketplace websites as well as through our own eCommerce platform. The Director of Delivery will be responsible for growing the delivery business through envisioning future growth opportunities, managing partnership relationships, and partnering with café operations.

Our Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have experience leading a business line that involves overseeing strategic vision, merchandising, and operations. Experience with eCommerce, category management, marketing and innovation are highly beneficial for this role.  This is a very cross functional role, and this individual should have outstanding teamwork and collaboration skills, excellent communication and relationship skills, a positive "can-do" attitude, good judgment, and an ability to deal with ambiguity. The candidate will be able to work well with a diverse set of functional groups, can influence others and is able to adapt as business priorities and direction shifts. A healthy competitive streak, creative problem-solving, technical and quantitative skills and a strong attention to detail are also keys to success. This role will allow someone to leverage their talent and experience to contribute meaningfully to Panera's business and culture. This individual will oversee a team of experienced individuals.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Formulate the strategic vision of the delivery channel
  • Responsible for the day-to-day oversite of the delivery business
  • Develop customer and competitive insights to inform strategic roadmaps to grow sales
  • Manage the growth of delivery through third-party partners as well as through Panera's own eCommerce platforms
  • Lead priority initiatives and direct a team to appropriately prioritize initiatives and drive results
  • Define and implement the right product assortment through our third-party partners, inclusive of managing the forecasting and sizing of new opportunities
  • Manage contract negotiations with current partners and potential new partners
  • Oversee issue resolution for partners, as issues arise
  • Monitor partner performance and evaluate opportunities for improvement

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, masters preferred
  • Minimum of 8-10 years' work experience with business management, product management, category management, strategy, finance or consulting experience preferred

  • Proven experience overseeing and growing a business unit
  • Proven experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to achieve a common objective
  • Vendor management experience ideally involving negotiations and contracting
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with proven examples of times you have used data to solve a problem and influence future investments
  • Effective style of presenting solutions to various audiences, including senior leadership
  • Experience in establishing and implementing standards and processes with a strong focus on operational excellence
  • Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity
  • Willingness to ask for help and leverage the knowledge and experience of others to overcome tough obstacles
  • Skilled at developing and maintaining project plans and can manage and prioritize multiple tasks
  • eCommerce experience preferred, ideally in a position where you have focused heavily on the customer to meet their needs
