Position Summary

PMA is currently seeking Project Managers to support major infrastructure and capital improvement projects in and around Los Angeles County. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Leading a construction team in accordance with program policies and procedures.

  • Training the project team on all client and program management office policies and procedures.

  • Following and successfully executing the program quality management system.

  • Reporting to and collaborating with the program management office on all project matters.

  • Reviewing and developing contract documents.

  • Planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and reporting performance of the project management team and construction projects.

  • Identifying risk and creating risk mitigation plans successfully.

  • Documenting and reporting all project data accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Creating and presenting project data clearly to multiple stakeholder groups.

  • Successfully managing and executing 5 to 10 projects simultaneously, ranging in construction value and complexity from $5 million to $50 million.

  • Successfully delivering construction projects on schedule and within budget.

  • Successfully closing out projects, including DSA and PMO closeout.

  • Tracking project status and providing management reports relative to the overall program and to construction project delivery schedules.

  • Tracking status and providing management reports relative to scheduling, cost control, staffing, and other related construction contract requirements.

  • Reviewing and inspecting construction site offices to assess performance of construction teams and adherence to legal requirements.

  • Reviewing recommended actions to resolve disputes relative to construction projects.

  • Directing and assisting in outreach efforts to provide information about college projects.

  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in managing multiple construction projects required; experience within a large capital improvement program and familiarity with relevant public codes preferred.

  • BS or BA in architecture, engineering, urban planning, construction management, or a closely related field required.

  • Experience with aviation, education, public works, or transportation projects preferred.

  • Knowledge of the project life cycle, including master planning, design, and closeout, preferred.

  • Experience in alternative delivery method preferred.

  • Experience with project management systems, such as Primavera P6, preferred.

  • Experience utilizing building information modeling (BIM), in energy and environmental design (LEED-certified) projects, and/or with the Division of the State Architect preferred.

  • Valid construction manager certification credential from the Construction Manager Certification Institute required or must be willing to achieve (company-sponsored) certification within 3 months of hire.
