Job SummaryPerforms evaluation, stabilization and critical care management of patients being transported from outlying hospitals under protocol and/or SC EMS laws. Provides operational support to ensure transport services meeting all personnel, equipment and regulatory requirements.
- Performs detailed physical assessment, establishes a plan of care and performs advanced critical care stabilization for patients being transported following designated protocols and procedures as approved by the Program's Medical Control Physician and SC DHEC Division of EMS.
- Exhibits appropriate communication skills in dealing with parents, family members, referring physicians and outlying hospital personnel as well as with EMS support personnel.
- Provides maintenance and follow-up for equipment/supply needs to insure system readiness.
- Provides written transport follow-up to each referring physician/hospital; collects data to assist in regulatory compliance; quality improvement and patient satisfaction issues.
This is a non-management job that report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
Education - Associate's degree Nursing
Experience - 3 years Nursing experience with at least 1 year of ICU experience
South Carolina RN licensure required
Special Purpose EMT (must be obtained after hire)
ACLS, NRP, and PALS required within one year of hire date.
