Job Summary
The RN-Magnet/Pathway to Excellence Coordinator performs a wide variety of duties leading and supporting all aspects of the Magnet and Pathway to Excellence standards for a regional market. The position is responsible and accountable for implementing the activities related to planning, organizing and managing activities and programs related to Magnet and Pathway to Excellence designations. The position further supports the campus/site clinical and administrative leadership team as a subject matter experts in the foundational principles of Nursing Excellence. Provides guidance, consultation, expert opinion and standard work for the design and maintenance of a comprehensive, constant state of readiness for Magnet and Pathway to Excellence designation for organizational facilities and locations. The position participates in and delivers educational programs related to Sources of Evidence (SOE) and Elements of Performance (EOP) standards and areas of improvement for leadership and staff. This position covers the entire market, supports and collaborates with the other market coordinator.Accountabilities
Provides leadership and direction to site Magnet and Pathway to Excellence Champions. Acts as the subject matter expert for Magnet and Pathway to Excellence and foundational principles of Nursing Excellence and their application to the practice of professional nursing. 10%
Provides program oversight for facilities obtaining or maintaining their Magnet and Pathway to Excellence designations for needed documents, filing deadlines, and program compliance. 10%
Provides Magnet and Pathway to Excellence readiness consultation to sites and other key stakeholders. 10%
Collaborates with nursing leadership to formulate a project plan and ensure completion of the Magnet and Pathway to Excellence Recognition Program application, written document submission, site visit and interim reporting within all required timeframes. 10%
Works with a designated site-based Magnet or Pathway to Excellence lead and the CNO to prepare all documentation related to Magnet and Pathway to Excellence initial and renewal designations. 10%
Collaborates with nursing leadership to implement process improvements that enhance performance outcomes and nursing evidence based practices. 10%
Develops relationships and communication processes that engage ancillary departments in pursuit of Magnet and Pathway designation and renewal designation.10%
Collaborates with the NDNQI coordinator in the collection/review of the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) and nurse sensitive indicator data consistent with database and professional standards requirements. 10%
Validates that patient outcome data is disseminated, monitored and evaluated against evidence relative to state and national benchmarks and regulatory standards and all areas where nurses are providing direct patient care have identified indicators. 10%
Provides mentorship and maintains expertise of changing SOE's and EOP's as well as communications posted on the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) website. 10%
Minimum Requirements
BSN- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing
3 years related nursing experience including Magnet or Pathway to Excellence, Nursing Shared Governance, Education or Research
Magnet/Pathway to Excellence experience preferred
Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses
Licensed to practice as a RN in South Carolina
Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
National specialty nursing certification preferred
