St. Lucie Medical Center (SLMC) is a 229-bed acute care facility accredited by the Joint Commission. Since 1983, St. Lucie has continually provided quality care to the Treasure Coast community. We offer a full range of services including a birthing center, cardiac catheterization lab, cancer care, breast center, minimally-invasive and robotic surgery, general and vascular surgery. The Orthopedic and Spine Institute offers the latest in orthopedic equipment ensuring patients have access to high-quality care. St. Lucie is a Certified Primary Stroke Center, as designated by the Joint Commission, and an American College of Cardiology accredited Chest Pain Center.   Job Description:

Reporting to the COO, the Director of Rehabilitation Services has the primary responsibility of supervision, coordination, and administration of the hospital inpatient Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy program along with Outpatient Rehab, the Advanced Wound Center and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Program located in Medical Office Building across the street from the Hospital. Responsibilities include: 

  • Personnel Management
  • Direct all therapeutic care activities within the parameters defined by legal, regulatory and procedural guidelines
  • Function independently/interdependently in the patient care process by consulting/collaborating with physicians and other health team members
  • Set and accomplish goals/objectives that are reasonable and achievable
  • Establish/implement productivity levels
  • Develop standards of patient care for the Rehabilitation Services Department
  • Monitor patient care delivery that is age specific for infants, pediatrics, teenagers, adults and geriatrics
  • Assure safety of patients and staff by maintaining quality control of equipment and environment
  • Monitor the documentation of patient are and maintain compliance in the use of those procedures
  • Develop and submit departmental budget
  • Monitor productivity and is knowledgeable regarding variances
  • Perform daily leadership rounding on assigned patients and participate in daily leadership huddle
  • Oversight of compliance with HCAHPS initiatives by Rehab department
  • Perform service recovery related to rehab services issues in acute care
  • Perform data collection and analysis for those Performance Improvement measures assigned
  • Audit and manage Rehab regulatory compliance in such areas as functional limitation reporting and physician signatures for certification/recertification of rehab plans of care

Qualifications

  • Current Florida Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy licensure
  • Bachelor's degree, Master's degree preferred
  • BLS certification
  • Minimum 3-5 years clinical experience including inpatient rehabilitation therapy
  • Minimum 2 years management experience, preferably at the Director level
