The State of Vermont's Department of Mental Health is currently seeking candidates to fill an interim vacancy as a Mental Health Specialist at the Middlesex Therapeutic Community Residence (MTCR) in Middlesex, VT. This interim position is expected to last until January 2022, with possibility of extension. Mental Health Specialists are responsible for the care of patients and maintenance of a therapeutic and clean environment in an assigned patient care area. Your day to day work will have a large impact on the recovery of patients in this facility. We are seeking candidates with availability for the night shift.

Incumbents may be assigned to any DMH Treatment facility and any shift. Employees regularly interact with patients experiencing serious mental illness, who present with various levels of risk to self or others - assaultive behavior, elopement risk, self-harm; and may be exposed to infectious diseases and caustic detergents.Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more of work experience, military service or college training INCLUDING one (1) year or more of experience in a human services setting.
Associate's degree in a human services field AND one (1) year of work experience or military service.
Bachelor's degree in a human services field.

Note: Employees in this class may be reallocated to the class of Associate Mental Health Specialist upon successful completion of Vera Hanks Program and two (2) years or more of direct clinical care experience as a Mental Health SpecialistSpecial Requirements
