The Commercial Portfolio Manager- Broadly Syndicated Lending (BSL) is responsible for the management and support of an existing corporate borrower portfolio. This position will include some origination underwriting activity on both existing and new borrowers. The Portfolio Manager is responsible for ensuring that all lending decisions, actions, and recommendations are based on an accurate and thorough understanding of each borrower's financial needs and conditions and comply with all laws, regulations, and Stifel Bank policy.



What We're Looking For

  • Managing the overall underwriting and credit analysis process and present loan and other borrower related requests and renewals to Senior Management and Loan Committees.
  • Analyze borrower specific and related industry risks as part of underwriting process.
  • Analyze borrower financial statements and projection models in support of borrower's ability to support financial obligations.
  • Partner with Credit Analysts on credit evaluations, preparing quarterly trend analyses, risk rating memos, annual reviews, and other amendment memos.
  • Monitor the financial performance of an existing portfolio to ensure financial statements, compliance certificates, and other required reports are up to date in order to identify any borrower issues at an early stage.
  • Ensure adherence to credit policy, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the overall documentation process and negotiate Credit Agreements to facilitate closing of approved loans.
  • Assist with overarching Corporate Banking projects.
  • Lead, mentor, and train credit analysts. 


What You'll Bring

  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic.
  • Knowledge in credit analysis and credit portfolio management.
  • Knowledge of the loan market and various industry (OCC and FDIC) regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (written and oral) with prospective borrowers, partner banks, investment bankers, equity research analysts, and executive management.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of a borrower.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross functionally.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under a heavy workload with changing priorities.
  • Strong ability to produce high quality work products independently and as part of a collegial team.


Education & Experience

  • Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum Required: 3+ years of related experience in corporate/commercial lending, debt capital markets, finance, or accounting

  • Minimum Required: None


Systems & Technology

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
