Description
The Portfolio Analyst will provide administrative, operational and analytical support to one or more 1919 Portfolio Managers, Investment Associates and Client Advisors and will be responsible for day-to-day administrative management of individual client, institutional and trust portfolios. High-touch client service is a hallmark of 1919; the candidate should be skilled in and enjoy analytical work, client service and should have experience working closely with clients and co-workers. The Portfolio Analyst must stay current on financial markets and instruments, and comply with firm policies, procedures, and Code of Ethics.
What We're Looking For
• Handle various portfolio administrative functions including but not limited to opening and terminating accounts; reviewing client billing; monitoring accounts by tracking cash, maturities and settlements to ensure that funds are available to clients; instructing custodians to wire funds or prepare checks; implementing the sale of mutual funds; determining instruments to sell to raise cash and documenting/memorializing client meetings and communications.
• Prepares customized client materials for periodic reporting and meetings. Coordinates delivery of presentation materials for client and prospective client meetings. May attend client meetings.
• Coordinates with third parties such as attorneys, accountants and auditors as requested by client.
• Reviews all reports, including performance, for accuracy and works with Operations to ensure accurate client reporting. Tests new applications, updates and system enhancements.
• Proactively reviews clients' security holdings and daily transaction activity. Works closely with trading, operations and various custodians to ensure that positions and asset values are accurate. Should be familiar with and willing to learn the intricacies of Fixed Income securities and markets.
• Under supervision of Portfolio Manager or Investment Associate, work with clients to answer investment-related questions. Have knowledge of investment products, operations and the servicing requirements of their clients. Should have general understanding of Fixed Income portfolios and be able to discuss at a high level with clients and internally.
• Work on special projects as needed.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned or requested.
What You'll Bring
• Strong financial skills, including at least one year of analytical experience in the financial sector.
• Proven experience working in a high-touch client service environment.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent interpersonal and communication services. This includes client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of client satisfaction.
• Highly organized, efficient and attentive to detail. Self-motivated and able to multi-task in an independent and timely manner.
• Team player – goes above and beyond in anticipating the needs of portfolio management teams.
• Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, the industry, the analysis and reporting of financial data, and associated terminology.
• Knowledge and experience using analytical skills.
• Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problem solving.
Education & Experience
• Minimum Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum Required: 3+ years relevant experience.
• Preferred: 3-5 years of financial analysis in investment industry experience in financial services, preferably in Private Wealth Management, Portfolio Administration, or college education and internships relating to Private Wealth Management.
