Your Role:

 

Working within the major highways team on larger highways and infrastructure projects, we require experienced highways design staff to join our growing team. Focus will be on the delivery of large highway and infrastructure design projects that we have already won, alongside a strong diverse forward workload including Highways England and Homes England framework projects.

You will work independently and proactively on projects, making sure that work is delivered to the relevant standards, the required quality, on time and within budget. You will produce design deliverables that align with our quality assurance and internal project management protocols and governance.

You will take individual responsibility producing design deliverables for projects. Where required, supervising and checking design input from junior staff as well as mentoring and supporting their professional development and training.

 

Skills required:

 

  • Degree qualified with HNC/degree in Civil Engineering or similar related construction qualification, ideally working to a professional qualification from ICE or CIHT
  • Experience gained in a highway design related field preferably with experience of working on the design of large Highways England / County Council led projects
  • Broad highways design background with knowledge and experience of the design of highways projects to the DMRB
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and / or AutoCAD ideally working within a BIM environment for project delivery and with Highways England project experience and experience of working within a collaborative design environment
  • Enthusiastic and diligent - enjoys a challenge and willing to learn
  • Ability and willingness to work independently and within a team proactively on projects, ensuring allocated design tasks are delivered to the expected quality and to the required standards
  • Willingness to take on allocated design tasks and work and learn from working with others within a wider highways team
  • Able to use design protocols and common data environments and project extranets on larger projects
