Description
Location: Australia or Pacific-based (flexible)
Contract: Deployable, surge support role
Make a difference in disaster response across the Pacific.
Tetra Tech International Development is seeking experienced logisticians to join our pool of deployable Logistics Response Specialists for the Humanitarian Logistics Capability (HLC) program. This is your opportunity to play a critical role in Australia's humanitarian responses, supporting communities affected by disasters across the Pacific and beyond.
Tetra Tech International Development is a leading development consulting firm working with government, businesses, and NGOs to solve complex development challenges in the Indo-Pacific region. For more information please visit our website
The Opportunity:
As a Logistics Response Specialist, you will be part of a dynamic team providing surge logistics support both in Australia and in-country across the Pacific. You'll work alongside government and humanitarian partners, delivering operational logistics, supply chain solutions, and technical advice in challenging, resource-constrained environments.
We are especially seeking candidates who have:
- Demonstrated experience deploying within the Pacific region to support disaster or humanitarian responses.
- A strong understanding of logistics coordination, supply chain management, and operational support in remote or disaster-affected settings.
- The ability to work collaboratively with diverse partners, including National Disaster Management Offices, DFAT, and international agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Support logistics planning, coordination, and operational delivery during humanitarian responses.
- Advise on import/export requirements, international transportation, and customs clearances.
- Supervise and support the delivery of humanitarian supplies to affected communities.
- Liaise with in-country partners and operational teams to ensure effective, timely response.
- Capture and share lessons learned to strengthen future operations.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking senior logisticians and project managers with experience in operational logistics, supply chain, or humanitarian response—ideally with deployments in the Pacific—who can operate independently and as part of cross-functional teams in high-pressure, low-resource environments. The ideal candidate will have strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills, as well as cultural competency and the ability to engage diplomatically with diverse stakeholders. You should be willing and able to deploy at short notice, including to remote or austere locations.
Additional qualifications such as HEAT (Hostile Environment Awareness Training), forklift or other Materiel Handling Equipment (MHE) certifications, Medium Rigid (MR), Heavy Rigid (HR), or Heavy Combination (HC) driving licenses, and experience with aircraft pallet building/design, the ability to hold/maintain an AGSVA Security Clearance (minimum NV1) and knowledge of Australia's International Development or Humanitarian Policy are highly desirable.
The Program: Humanitarian Logistics Capability (HLC)
The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Humanitarian Logistics Capability (HLC) facilitates the timely, effective, and flexible delivery of the Australian Government's humanitarian assistance and emergency relief program around the world, providing high quality, multifaceted, flexible and responsive project management and humanitarian supply chain solutions in support of Australia's Humanitarian Emergency Relief activities.
Tetra Tech International Development, as the Implementing Contractor for the HLC, will work closely with DFAT, other Commonwealth response capabilities, international organisations and humanitarian partners to implement HLC operations and activities across all aspects of program management and delivery.
