Job Summary and Qualifications

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of a physical infrastructure safety management program with a focus on the Joint Commission Environment of Care and Life Safety chapters. They perform reviews of regulatory documentation and educate and assist facilities on code-required procedures and activities to ensure compliance with the Joint Commission, OSHA, Federal EPA, AHCA, State Department of Health and other authorities having jurisdiction. The safety coordinator will work with the facility leadership and EOC teams to properly document regulatory activities in HCA Healthcare's compliance platform, as well as, coach relevant teams on changes to code standards.

  • Helps develop, implement and monitor hospital wide safety management programs.
  • Provides oversite and helps ensure that the hospital is in compliance with The Joint Commission, Federal EPA, OSHA and state regulations.
  • Works with the Director of Plant Operations to ensure that all EC/LS binders/software is accurate and up to date.
  • Works with the Director of Plant Operations to ensure that the Complyos database is accurate and up to date.
  • Serves as the Environment of Care Committee Chair and consults with staff on hospital wide safety and security issues, waste management control and hazardous waste management.
  • Works with the Director of Plant Operations to develop, implement and monitor the safety and training programs for the facility and engineering department.
  • Maintains training records for the department and ensures appropriate training is given to critical staff.
  • Responds to employee safety and security concerns by examining safety issues, preparing corrective actions and ensuring appropriate follow-up.
  • Reports to the Environment of care committee on safety related issues with resolutions.
  • Assist departments with developing safety policies and procedures.
  • Works with EP Leader to ensure all risk assessments are completed and entered in Complyos.
  • Works with EP Leader to conduct any required disaster drills.
  • Works with the incident command on all emergency situations.
  • Coordinates and implements all corporate safety and security initiatives.
  • When not involved with safety issues, will work in Plant Operations completing work orders as needed and assisting with other facility issues (floods, etc…) that may arise.
  • Will be a part of the Plant Operations on-call rotation when acclimated to facility.

Qualifications

  • · 3 years of hospital regulatory and/or plant logistics experience or a Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience in hospital regulatory/plant logistics requirements
  • · Experience on personal computers using spreadsheets, word processing and review and uploading of regulatory documentation.
