JOB SUMMARY

Serve as finance partner and provide thought leadership to the Merchandising and Marketing organization by providing financial insights that inform strategic and operational decisions and drive financial results.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

The Director FP&A will partner across the enterprise to drive retail sales and margin business results. Develop financial projections, analyses, and recommendations. Develop processes, tools, and reports that provide insights for the business and influence strategic direction. Manage cross category FP&A, eCommerce, and inventory finance teams. Key stakeholders/business partners: President, Ulta Beauty, Chief Digital Officer, SVP/VP Merchandise Planning & Inventory, Senior Finance Leadership

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)

  • Analyze cross category / channel / total retail results / trends / issues / opportunities and provide action-oriented insights to leadership to drive performance
  • Facilitate execution of core financial planning and reporting processes including monthly forecast, annual budget, long range plan, actuals
  • Drive continuous improvement across core planning, reporting, and decision-making processes
  • Provide executive level reporting, profitability reporting and analytical tools to drive better decision making
  • Partner with corporate FP&A partners and Investor relations to support BOD updates, earning releases, etc.
  • Lead cross category and omni channel post event financial analysis, provide insights to affect future decisions/planning
  • Partner with VP, Private Label to develop strategies and financial plans to drive the private label business
  • Partner with the VP, eCommerce and the Chief Digital Officer to drive eCommerce / omni-channel sales and profitability
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations for inventory planning decisions and partner with MPI leadership to improve inventory health and assess financial implications of initiatives
  • Support the inventory reserve processes and provide insights and recommendations to minimize financial impacts of aging inventory


Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 7-10 years of professional financial experience in a retail or consumer products organization
  • Undergraduate degree in finance, business, or related field, MBA preferred
  • Experience in a finance business partner role in a category management environment desired
  • Advanced analytical skills coupled with an ability to interpret, communicate findings, and make recommendations
  • Advanced Excel and modeling skills
  • Understanding of general accounting, financial statements, and internal controls
  • Ability to influence decision makers through financial analyses and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build teams, processes, and models that deliver desired results
  • Innate inquisitiveness relative to process workings and financial results
  • Strong problem analysis skills to assess, research, interpret and analyze complicated data
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple assignments with time sensitive deadlines
  • Proficient in MS Office; SAP or Business Intelligence systems knowledge helpful
