Now Hiring: Assistant Controller

Kelly Services is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller for a direct hire opportunity with our client, located in Honolulu, HI 96813.

Position Overview:

The Assistant Controller is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily accounting and financial reporting functions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising accounting support staff and managing accounts payable, billing, cash receipts, reconciliations, and disbursements.
  • Leading the month-end close process, performing balance sheet reviews, and preparing financial statements in full compliance with statutory accounting principles (NAIC and state statutes).
  • Supporting budget development, preparing financial scenarios and forecasts, and ensuring achievement of financial goals.
  • Coordinating and managing audits, tax filings, payroll reconciliations, and maintaining banking relationships.
  • Maintaining compliance with industry regulations and engaging in capital adequacy management.
  • Communicating with insurance regulators and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participating in leadership meetings to support organizational goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, preferably with emphasis in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of three years' progressive experience in insurance accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance accounting principles, industry regulations, reinsurance, investment management, and treasury operations.
  • Proven ability to supervise staff and outsourced vendors, analyze complex financial data, and produce accurate reports.

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (hours may vary)

Compensation:

  • Competitive salary based on experience: $100,000–$130,000 annually
