Position Overview As a Sales Engineer, you will provide direct engineering support to commercial staff, focusing on technical requirements for quoted and supplied products, mainly threaded fasteners. You will act as the technical liaison between customers and suppliers in all matters related to product design, application, and performance. Key Responsibilities
- Technical Liaison: Serve as the engineering liaison between customers and subcontractors for product design, application, and function.
- Application Studies & Reports: Conduct fastener application studies and produce technical reports using various tools and customer materials.
- Sales Support: Attend sales calls to provide technical expertise; present the company's business model, technical capabilities, and product solutions.
- Supplier Collaboration: Visit key suppliers to develop comprehensive knowledge of their production and processing capabilities.
- Cost Reduction Initiatives: Identify and propose VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) opportunities, including line walks within customer operations.
- Customer Relationship Development: Build strong connections with customer engineering teams for early project involvement.
- New Product Support: Assist in new product development and launches, ensuring technical support is provided throughout.
- Technical Training: Lead training sessions for commercial staff on product and engineering topics.
- General Technical Support: Provide wide-ranging technical assistance, adapting to undefined customer needs as needed.
- CAD & Blueprint Interpretation: Interpret customer engineering requirements from 2D/3D drawings, manage 3D CAD software, and support related commercial staff needs.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by leadership.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Formal engineering degree with a solid technical background (preferably with fasteners)
- Proficiency in blueprint reading including GD&T; adept at using common fastener inspection tools (caliper, micrometer, thread gages, etc.)
- Skilled in PC operations and engineering software (2D/3D construction techniques)
- Willingness and ability to travel as business needs require
- Work Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm, 60-minute lunch; flexibility as business dictates
- Environment: Office/Warehouse, with some exposure to solvents, oils, grease, and variable temperatures
