Pharmacy Technician MEDICAL CITY MCKINNEY PRN (As Needed)
JOB SUMMARY: Pharmacy Technicians routinely assist the pharmacist in dispensing medications, including IV admixture and compounding. To assure the delivery of continuous quality pharmacy service to patients by making certain all drugs are handled, packed, prepared, charged and delivered accurately and timely for medication distribution. The pharmacy technician must show the ability to unit dose and prepack medications independently with pharmacist approval. Must learn to accurately stock medications in the Automated Dispensing Machines. Must be competent in IV admixture and compounding. Will be required to assist in the maintenance of the pharmacy stock including reordering medication products and monthly removal of expired medications.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: -High school graduate or equivalent degree is required. -Two years of experience in pharmacy with at least one year in a hospital pharmacy preferred. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: -National Pharmacy Tech Certification. -Current license/registration in good standing as a pharmacy technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: -Solving simple math equations, and memorizing drug trade and generic names. -Able to work independently in IV, Epidural and PCA admixtures and compounding with pharmacist approval. -Ability to monitor telephone calls, complete work and respond to STAT requests with frequent interruptions.
