Unit Secretary

 

Founded in 1982, Rio Grande Regional Hospital (RGRH), an HCA-affiliated facility, is proud of maintaining its status as one of the leading healthcare providers in the Rio Grande Valley. For nearly 30 years, we have remained focused and committed to providing quality healthcare to all members of our community.

 

With 320 beds and a team of more than 500 physicians representing over 35 specialties, we offer a range of inpatient and outpatient services.

Rio Grande Regional Hospital is currently looking for a Unit Secretary.

 

What you will do in this role:

 

  • Handles all clerical functions related to patient care, as assigned
  • Handles all secretarial functions within the unit, as assigned
  • Serves as a liaison within and outside the area with both internal and external customers.  Part of a team that assists in the entire peri-operative experience
  • May access general supply storage areas where saline flushes and procedure trays are stored.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and diagnostic testing is preferred

  • National Certification as Health Unit Coordinator, preferred.

  • Current CPR certification required.

 

ABILITIES: Must communicate with many levels of hospital personnel, patients and patient's families in an age appropriate manner. On the job training is necessary with a minimum of 1-2 weeks orientation required. Must exercise some independent judgment in determining the sequence of job activities within the workday.
