THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:

 

The Corporate Strategy team is responsible for developing the broad, strategic vision for Ulta Beauty, and identifying, evaluating, and executing on new growth opportunities and strategic initiatives.

 

The Senior Analyst, Corporate Strategy will be responsible for working closely with the Corporate Strategy team, and with colleagues at all levels and functions across the company. This individual will deliver value added business and financial analysis to inform decision-making for key opportunities, particularly as it relates to bold new strategic ambitions for Ulta Beauty.

This individual will also support competitive intelligence for the enterprise, including comprehensive monitoring of the competitive landscape, tracking the beauty market, and assessing dynamics and shifts in competitors' strategies.

 

A successful candidate must be naturally curious, self-motivated, able to prioritize effectively, and possess very strong analytical skills. This individual will participate in highly visible projects for senior leadership and the Board of Directors that will have a significant impact on the direction of the company, and therefore should demonstrate strong executive presence and possess superior presentation skills.

 

YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY:

  • Support the long-term and annual strategic planning process for the enterprise, helping shape and prioritize cross-functional initiatives with the leadership team
  • Maintain and enhance the external market model and analysis to assess Ulta Beauty's market share and respective opportunities to support our strategic planning process
  • Identify and manage new sources of market data to continually improve our market intelligence
  • Develop financial models that will evaluate opportunities, assess trade-offs, and drive key decisions throughout the organization
  • Support competitive intelligence for the enterprise, maintaining and monitoring competitor-specific activities on a regular cadence
  • Exhibit creative, out-of-the-box thinking to support identification of white space opportunities - assess and articulate the strategic rationale, grounded in data-driven insights, in support of enterprise-wide strategic plan

THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:


1-3 years of professional experience in Finance or Strategy (investment banking or management consulting experience at a top-tier firm required)
BS/BA
Superior analytical skills; at least 1 year of experience working with large datasets and modeling
Highly motivated - exhibit flexibility and willingness to take on new responsibilities and assignments and to assist with various ad hoc projects as needed
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high level of accuracy
Comfort with ambiguity – ability to synthesize implications and triangulating from various data sources
Well organized - ability to manage multiple projects and priorities efficiently
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable working independently and in collaborative manner in a cross-functional environment
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint; Proficient in Tableau (preferred) and MS Office
Experience in retail or consumer products preferred, but not required
