With broad direction from the Assistant Dean for MBA Student Life, the Senior Program Manager, Student Life is responsible for the management and oversight of student extracurricular and academic activities for over 700 full-time MBA students in support of the mission of the Full-Time MBA program.
The Senior Program Manager, Student Life is responsible for planning, managing, and evaluating student activities to assure compliance with University policies, procedures, and standards. The Senior Program Manager, Student Life represents MBA Student Affairs to the administration and external community, and makes key decisions if the Assistant Dean is unavailable.
Major responsibilities include: 1) serving as an administrative liaison to student clubs and student government; 2) coordinating full-time MBA international student programming; 3) providing general student life advising for all full-time MBA students; 4) assisting with key departmental and student events.
Ability to analyze problems, propose solutions, make recommendations, take action,systematize operations, and process with skill in creating and modifying procedures to increase efficiency. Excellent organizational skills and superior attention to detail. Required Strong proficiency using various software programs including technology and media equipment including MediaSite, Polycom and Skype, in addition to Advanced PC and Mac skills and high level of competence with but not limited to the following software programs: Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, HTML, Dreamweaver, Sharepoint, TypePad, Ingeniux, Filemaker Pro, Qualtrics, and other database software and survey tools. Able to create reports, presentations, spreadsheets. Required Demonstrated skill with technology and media equipment including MediaSite, Polycom and Skype, in addition to University database systems (MyUCLA, SRS, BAR, PAC, etc.), UCLA accounting/purchasing policies, electronic invitation, survey programs, and database management. Preferred Excellent communication skills. Ability to produce documents that are clear, concise, logical and grammatically correct. Skill in working in a team environment and working collaboratively with department administrators. Required Demonstrated customer service skills. Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with faculty, students, staff and outside constituencies. Ability to communicate well and discretely. Required Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, as part of a team, oral presentations, ability to work some evenings/weekends & ability to work concurrently on a variety of complex projects, prioritizing tasks, responding to changes in direction, while meeting project deadlines. Required Working knowledge of University and School rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to student and academic affairs. Preferred Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, faculty, and administrators. Required Demonstrated ability to anticipate and set priorities for assignments and projects in a timely manner when faced with fluctuating and heavy workload; ability to meet project deadlines in a timely manner. Required Strong interpersonal and professional skills to interact effectively with high level administrators, faculty, staff, persons of various socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, students, and corporate representatives. Required Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and complete quickly and on time, Significant attention to detail and accuracy in preparing program reports, documents, and electronic communication & Excellent organizational skills, understanding of complex projects, and attention to detail. Required Excellent communication skills: ability to relate complex information clearly, concisely, logically and diplomatically in person or in writing; ability to write and edit grammatically correct reports, business correspondence, emails, e-newsletters and original written content. Required Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills to develop and maintain effective relationships as well as deal with any constituency, including senior administrators, high profile alumni, executives, UCLA faculty and staff, and prospective and current student; ability to act in appropriate, tactful, patient manner at all times, and meet the potentially demanding needs. Required Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity to deal with diverse current and prospective students, alumni, executives, vendors, staff, faculty, and others from around the world. Required Demonstrated ability to anticipate and set priorities for assignments and projects in a timely manner when faced with fluctuating and heavy workload; ability to meet project deadlines in a timely manner. Required Skill in negotiating, exchanging ideas, information, and opinions with others to formulate policies and programs and arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions or solutions. Required Demonstrated ability to articulate to visitors, alumni, current and prospective students, faculty, staff, and vendors the goals and objectives of the MBA program as well as UCLA Anderson's policies, procedures, and programs. Required Demonstrated listening and conflict resolution skills to deal with students, prospective students, faculty, staff, and alumni professionally and diplomatically. Required Professional demeanor, attitude, and ability to serve as UCLA Anderson's representative at student sponsored events, as well as at professional meetings and seminars. Required Three to five years of experience working as a student affairs professional in a large and complex academic institution. Required
