Position Summary:

The Test Engineer 1 is a member of the Test Team supporting testing activities and product development at FOX.  This role is closely aligned with both technical Lab staff and design engineers and requires a broad range of skills to handle a wide variety of assignments. 

Expectations of a Test Engineer 1:

  • Responsibly manage a detailed task list with full accountability for the completion of assignments
  • Exercise good judgment and know when to ask questions or seek further guidance and directions
  • Build upon basic engineering principles to gain working knowledge of hydraulics, PID system control theory, material properties, statistics, mechanical design to support test fixturing and test machines

Position Responsibilities:

  • Design and fabricate machines and fixturing to support testing
  • Support the creation of new test methods, test procedures, fixture concepts, and other tools
  • Support the operation and maintenance of the FOX test system infrastructure (electromechanical, hydraulic, and mechatronic)
  • Examine a wide range of process and organizational problems to support the identification of critical paths so effective actions can be developed to address them in a timely manner
  • Work with technical staff to ensure successful testing in a timely manner
  • Effectively balance the demands of daily activities and long-term projects

Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required:

  • Strong analytical background, problem solving skills, and communication skills
  • Mechanical design and CAD experience (PTC Creo preferred, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, Siemens NX, or similar)
  • Experience with standard MS Office software tools (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience with mechatronic systems or related industrial automation processes (PLC ladder logic, Arduino-style microcontrollers, or similar)

Position Qualifications:

Education:

B.S. Mechanical Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent

Experience: 

Entry level position appropriate for recent graduats

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Office/Test Lab Environment

Ability to sit for long periods of time

Vision abilities required to validate and enter data on computer

May lift up to 50 lbs. 

Requires walking, standing, bending and lifting for long periods of time
