Job Duties

Work Planning and Business Requirements (30-40%)

  • Leads and/or participates in workstream planning process including inception, technical design, development, testing and delivery of BI reporting and visualization solutions.
  • Develops work plans or reviews other work plan timelines and manages work to meet timeframes.
  • Participates in project management estimation process.
  • Participates in the development of business cases to support IT projects.
  • Works with users to directly understand customer needs. Drives activities to gather required reporting and dashboard requirements.
  • Analyzes business and functional requirements and translates these requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions.
  • Translates business requirements into specifications that will be used to implement the required reports and dashboards, created from potentially multiple data sources
  • Collects, analyzes, and shares data to help business teams drive improvement in key business metrics, customer experience, and business results.

Develop and Implement (40-50%)

  • Designs and implements data models and schemas, meta data definition using best practices in data modeling, processes, and technologies
  • Owns and manages all changes to the data models. Creates logical and physical data models, solution designs and data architecture documentation including enforcing naming standards and data dictionary for data models.
  • Performs data conversions, imports and exports of data within and between internal and external systems.
  • Implements tools and frameworks for automating report generation, identification of data-quality issues, and data governance.
  • Leads the integration efforts for merging BI platforms with ERP systems and applications.
  • Implements Visualization toolset and employs data science to explores data and discover patterns, meaningful relationships, anomalies, and trends
  • Implements Object Level Security for the objects like Dashboards, Reports, and Data Level Security
  • Performs programming analysis for a wide range of requests using data in different formats and from various platforms.
  • Develops approaches to convert legacy reports to the current toolset
  • Ensures documentation is created and maintained
  • Ensures proper configuration management and change controls are implemented

Production Support (30-40%)

  • Troubleshoots reported data load or reconciliation inconsistencies in conjunction with the sites for data models and/or reports
  • Tracks, monitors and analyzes performance and production issues, and implements improvements
  • Supports and helps external resources, such as service providers and vendor support
  • Keeps customer informed about business intelligence tool problems and resolutions
  • Tracks and reports out on issues and enhancement request for the business in a timely manner
  • Works closely with customers and other IT team members to create ad hoc reports to support timely business decisions and project work
  • Provides support as required to ensure the availability and performance of developed reports and dashboards for both external and internal users
  • Provides training and assistance to users for generation of ad-hoc reports

Work Experience and Educational Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management, Mathematics or specialized training/certification. Or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically requires 5 or more years of related technical experience.
  • Strong data modeling, storytelling and data visualization skills using Microsoft Power BI, R, and Python.
  • Strong programming skills in SQL, PL/SQL, DAX.
  • Good grasp of modern data warehouse design concepts; familiar with common databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL.
  • Fluency in data analysis, including defining KPIs, statistical and predictive modeling concepts, descriptive statistics.
  • Experience in ETL, Data lake house technologies in Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Exceptional communication skills with an ability to distill complex ideas for high-level audiences
  • At least 3 years of experience supporting a major ERP system.
  • In-depth knowledge of the industry and multiple business functional areas.
  • Expert skills in data analysis and patterns.
  • Technical skills in Oracle reporting platform toolsets is a plus (Apex, seeded and custom EBS reports), GL Wand and Reports Wand
  • Hands-on experience supporting or working with Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing environments.
