R&D Test Lab Technician
Location: Reynoldsburg, OH
Employment Type: Temporary (3–6 months) with potential for permanent/direct hire conversion
Role Context
An automotive supplier is seeking a temporary R&D Test Lab Technician to support verification testing on new products. This role is needed due to a peak in the testing schedule and being short-handed. Exceptional performers may be considered for permanent conversion, though this is not guaranteed.
Overview
This hands-on role supports engineers and lab personnel by performing basic tests, assisting with complex tests, and preparing samples for verification testing. The technician ensures smooth operations in the lab, helping the team collect accurate data and document test results.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform basic tests using push-pull gauges and other lab equipment.
- Assist engineers with complex tests, including data collection, photography, and teardown of test components.
- Prepare samples for testing, including cutting, cleaning, and basic assembly of parts.
- Collect and organize test data to support the creation of test reports.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized lab environment.
- Follow safety protocols and standard operating procedures at all times.
- Previous hands-on experience in a manufacturing, test lab, or R&D environment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude — able to use standard hand tools, measurement instruments, and follow instructions.
- Ability to accurately collect data and document observations.
- Strong attention to detail and reliability in performing routine lab tasks.
- Ability to lift test fixtures and parts as needed.
- Experience with robotics, specifically Fanuc (programming or editing).
- Familiarity with fabrics, materials, or plastics.
- Associate degree or technical certificate in engineering technology, mechanical technology, or similar.
- Fast-paced automotive R&D lab supporting product verification and validation.
