UCLA's philanthropic reach is far and wide with a Regional Giving team dedicated to building enduring relationships from coast to coast. The Executive Director, Regional Giving, is responsible for developing and executing long- and short-term strategies to secure major gifts from individuals, alumni and foundations. This individual will lead a team of fundraisers who will manage the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift prospects ($25,000 and up). The Executive Director will develop goals and objectives for the regional giving program, prepare annual operating plans of the unit and evaluate progress at appropriate intervals. In addition, the Executive Director will provide strong leadership of the group by managing and motivating a team of Regional Giving development officers.
1.At least seven to ten years of progressively responsible and successful experience as a professional development officer or similar experience in a nonprofit, membership/volunteer driven or related environment. Required 2. Expert knowledge of principles and practices of annual and major gift fundraising in a major research university of institution of equivalent complexity. Required 3.Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement a comprehensive development or similar program of comparable size and complexity including the ability to envision and articulate future direction. Required 4.Demonstrated experience in soliciting high-level major gifts and/or prior experience with solicitations of a similar nature, level and complexity. Required 5.Appropriate management and administrative skills needed to organize, direct, motivate and evaluate other professionals and volunteers. Required 6.Excellent communication skills to express, both orally and in writing, the mission of the University and the fundraising goals of the campus, especially as they relate to the initiatives and priorities of the Regional Giving team. Required 7.Effective verbal communication skills to make persuasive oral presentations to senior management and internal and external constituencies, conduct participatory meetings, gain acceptance of decisions, and advise and collaborate with others. Required 8.Exceptional interpersonal skills to interact effectively with academic leaders, faculty, staff, donors and volunteers. Required 9.Outstanding organizational skills and proficiency in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner and on deadline. Required 10.Self-starter, who works equally well independently and collectively and collaboratively with colleagues to achieve common goals. Required 11.Experience managing, motivating and evaluating a professional staff. Required 12. Extensive experience participating in strategic planning; strong strategic thinking skills aligned with the ability to implement and follow through. Required 13. The ability to navigate and be effective within a complex organization. Required 14. Some travel and the ability to work evenings and weekends as required. Required 15. Master's degree is preferred.
