Description

Center X is a community of educators, in the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies, working to transform public schooling to create a more just, equitable, and humane society. The Center X Programs manager reports to the Director of Business Administration. Primary responsibilities include analyzing financial activity for five plus projects with a total annual operating budget of $1,000,000, generate monthly financial reports for Project Directors, implementing and managing program activities, provide administrative and logistical support for various programs, develop a marketing and communication plan, and support Center in Payroll management.

Qualifications

Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, and follow through with minimal direction in order to perform effectively under conditions of frequent interruptions, fluctuating workloads, and conflicting time demands. Required Interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships and ongoing communications with persons of various social, educational, and cultural backgrounds. Required Skill in speaking in a clear and distinct professional manner to individuals at various organizational levels by using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and convey information. Required Ability to establish and maintain a broad range of campus, school district, and statewide liaisons to interact effectively with Project director(s) and various educational organizations. Required Ability to prepare and edit correspondence and reports in a concise, logical, and grammatically correct manner. Required Skill in coordinating special events (e.g., workshops, meetings, conferences). Required Ability to organize material, information, and personnel in a systematic way to optimize efficiency and minimize duplication of effort. Required Ability to generate detailed monthly financial reports using advanced features of Excel that compare budgeted to actual personnel effort and separate costs associated with sub-projects and major expense items Required Ability to prepare budgets for extramural funds and general funds in accordance with University and funding agency guidelines and policies. Preferred Ability to work in a team environment, including organizing work flow to accomplish established objectives, delegating responsibility, training, and evaluating effectiveness. Required Knowledge of sponsored research administration sufficient to understand the proposal process, prepare appropriate forms associated with a proposal, and coordinate submission with relevant University offices. Ability to gain knowledge of Uniform Standards governing the eligibility and calculation of costs in support of sponsored research. Preferred Skill in editing, copywriting, and content creation. Required Demonstrated ability with University on-line financial systems/ledgers including BruinBuy, TOF, and OFSR. Preferred Working knowledge of personal computer hardware and of word-processing, spread sheet, database, scheduling, and e-mail software, e.g., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint Required Working knowledge of University policies and procedures such as accounting, travel, purchasing, facilities, mail and expedite tasks with associated central offices Preferred Skill in making appropriate job decisions following standard office policies and past precedents. Preferred Ability to work some weekends and afternoons as they pertain to project activities when necessary. Required Ability to establish, organize, and maintain office systems and records. Required Ability to travel to off-campus workshop sites. Required Knowledge of university- and campus-wide administrative and academic organizations. Preferred Knowledge of statewide educational agencies, their services, roles, and responsibilities to obtain and disseminate needed information Preferred Ability to learn new software programs and acquire relevant skillsets that will improve the Project's efficiency and impact.
