Are You Looking for a Job? Mangano Launches “Nassau Works”

Mineola, NY – Building on his efforts to help put people back to work and reduce citizens’ reliance on social services, Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today launched a free job finding application – Nassau Works – that notifies job seekers of job opportunities. Powered by TweetMyJobs, this innovative jobs platform provides a comprehensive and integrated social and mobile job solution that connects job seekers and employers. This new platform is offered to County businesses for free – as to help reduce their recruiting costs and ensure they gain access to qualified candidates. One of the largest databases of available jobs on the Internet, Nassau Works also includes a one-of-a-kind augmented reality feature that allows seekers to view job openings in the geographic proximity of their smartphone.

“Nassau County is leading the charge in helping our citizens get back to work and reduce the demand on social services,” said County Executive Mangano. “This free, new online jobs platform will help job seekers find employment and provide our local businesses with free access to the same cutting edge tools that Fortune 500 companies are using today.”

Available at www.NassauWorks.com or at the App Store for your mobile device, getting started is as fast and easy as easy as pushing a button to find jobs or for employers to instantly distribute their job listings to every corner of the digital landscape. Nassau Works leverages social media to drive local employment solutions. Job seekers can choose to receive job notifications “pushed” to them via text message on their phone, email or through social media networks like Twitter. Nassau Works is also integrated with Facebook so that job seekers can easily see if any of their friends are connected with the hiring company. Through the site seekers can request a referral from their friend to the hiring company making their chances of getting the job 20 times higher.

Nassau Works serves as the perfect complement to the job creation initiatives already being implemented by County Executive Mangano. Accordingly, all economic development compacts entered into by the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency will require businesses to post job openings on Nassau Works.

“It is an honor to partner with County Executive Mangano and Nassau County to provide our job matching technology,” said Robin D. Richards, Chairman and CEO of TweetMyJobs. “The platform will act as a powerful compliment to Executive Mangano’s job programs and lead to a fast connection of job seekers with hiring employers.”

By launching the jobs platform, Nassau County will also gain access to a dynamic set of robust data and analytics that will provide unprecedented insights into local employment needs and help steer key strategic decisions to foster future job growth.
