Sales Development Rep, Sam Moon Shares His Career Story
What was your very first job?
I was a Sales Development Rep at Velocify.
How did you find your first job?
I used job boards and Glassdoor.
What was your most exciting/unique job?
Managed partnership of Dodgers’ outfielder Joc Pederson’s dog’s social media while working at the Young & Reckless.
What was your most unique or least favorite job duty?
My most unique job duty was probably a team member at Party City while I was in high school. Working the week of Halloween, I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. Little kids, stressed-out parents, teens going through puberty…it was tough.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be starting pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
What did you go to school for?
I earned my B.A in Sports Administration at Pepperdine University.
Describe your career arc.
SDR > Account Executive > Director of Sales > CEO
Have you ever been laid off? What challenges did you face? Did it end up being a good thing?
Yes, I was laid off from Velocify after an acquisition by Ellie Mae. It took 2 months and 10+ interviews before landing the perfect gig at CareerArc. Wouldn’t change anything. I love the people I work with, the product I sell, and the mentors.
What would you do if you could retire today?
Travel the world, worldwide food tour, Vlog it up!
What brought you to CareerArc?
Never saw any organizations leverage social media for recruitment. Saw this as a huge opportunity to make a splash from the ground floor.
How do you like working here?
Dream Come True. Working with like-minded coworkers is refreshing. Exciting times with $30 million in funding only validates the wonderful work we are doing and why I love coming into work every day.
